Sarawak trip ~ 8 to 11 March 2011

ya allah lamenyer aku x update blog ni..ok for a start aper nk tulis ek??
hmmm let me story sumthin' bout my trip to Sarawak..
I was looking for a cultural, yet relaxing holiday, and came to the conclusion that Sarawak was probably the place to visit. With a blend of ancient history, wild animal life and hospitable inhabitants, Sarawak was an interesting experience.
My trip started in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak. On one side of the Sarawak River, a middle-sized, but developing city was shining; whilst on the other side were the “kampung” where most of the people lived. There were a couple of shopping centres, cafes and restaurants in the city as well as hotels of all classes.
I can't really remember in details where did we go coz it has been 2 months since we came back on 11th March 2011.

If i'm not mistaken on the first day we arrived at Kuching International airport; me and hubby decided to go straight to Kuching Park Hotel ~ the place where we booked from travel agent. We were so exhausted at that time so nothing else came on our mind except lying down on a comfortable bed and relax. We fall asleep for about 2 hours...lame ok,penat sgt. One thing that i notice about east cost is siang sgt cepat bertukar jd malam..wonder why?

That night we had our dinner at the one and only Halal place nearby called SCR Restaurant. Hubby had the famous Kolok Mee while for myself; i ordered Special Sarawak Fried Noodles. The food was not as our expectations but we thought we might choosen the wrong shop and decided to try it again at different shop the next day. There were plenty of handicraft shops along the Riverside Waterfront Kuching road and the price of Sarawak Merchandise also not very expensive and that really surprise me. Besides that the quality or materials used to make the souvenirs, t-shirt also good and really worth buying.

The next days were set for the cultural part of Sarawak. The best place for a family adventure vacation is at the internationally-acclaimed and award-winning "Sarawak Cultural Village", Sarawak's fascinating cultural showcase. The Sarawak Cultural Village is a MUST visit destination for anyone who is visiting Sarawak, Malaysia Borneo, especially on a Family Adventure Vacation. Located about 35km from Kuching city and tucked away on the foothills of legendary Mount Santubong, the Sarawak Cultural Village is built on a 14-acre site of equatorial vegetation, next to a scenic man-made lake. Sometimes referred to as a living museum, the Village depicts the heritage of the major racial groups in Sarawak and conveniently portrays the respective lifestyle. The village boasts seven ethnic houses representative of the Malay, the Chinese, the Penan and the longhouses of the Bidayuh, Iban, Orang Ulu and the Melanau. There were dance performances, demonstrations, homemade food and local jewelry, plus a brief tour of each house. The people that worked there were representatives from each ethnic group and most of them lived at the museum.
